Day 1: Board our spacious, video equipped bus and head toward beautiful Savannah, Georgia for a two-night stay! This evening, enjoy a leisurely Dinner and check into a Savannah area hotel.
Day 2: After a Breakfast we will travel to Savannah’s Visitor Center where you will meet your guide for a 2 hour tour of one of the largest restored National Historic Landmark Districts in the nation. You will see 2.2 square miles of the Historic District showing over 270 years of rich history with its restored 18th and 19th century buildings and the waterfront where cotton warehouses are now restaurants, hotels and shops. This beautiful city eloquently displays exquisite ironwork ancient cobblestones, splendid mansions and picturesque cottages. You will see and hear about Factors Walk, Trustees Garden, City Market and Colonial Cemetery. In the afternoon you will visit the Savannah History Museum housed in the old Central of Georgia Railway passenger shed and dating to the 1850’s. The museum is now home to more than 10,000 artifacts, including Forest Gump’s bench, one of Johnny Mercer’s Oscar Awards, and a carriage owned by the family of Girl Scouts founder, Juliette Gordon Lowe. You will also have the opportunity to view a film presentation of “Savannah the Survivor” in the theatre. Later, stop a Savannah’s River Street District to browse in the unique shops. Your day will end with a delicious Southern buffet dinner at Food Network personality Paula Dean’s Lady & Sons Restaurant.
Day 3: Following breakfast, you will check out and travel to Charleston where you will meet your guide for a Historic Charleston Tour. Charleston is one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the South and if features stately homes with lovely gardens, magnificent public buildings, and majestic churches. You will see the College of Charleston, Harleston Village (one of the early suburbs of the city), townhouses. After the tour you will ceck into your hotel and prepare for a delicious dinner at on of Charleston’s popular restaurants.
Day 4: Enjoy breakfast, then depart for a visit to the Magnolia Plantation where you will have a tour of the home and nature tram tour of the gardens. Enjoy lunch on your own in Charleston’s historic area before departing for an afternoon harbor cruise and a visit to Ft. Sumter, which is know as The Battery. After the cruise, return to your hotel to prepare for dinner which will be at one of Charleston’s fine restaurants.
Day 5: Following breakfast, check out and prepare for our departure home.
